Analysis of polypharmacy events and drug-drug interaction in COVID-19 therapy

Background: Polypharmacy is the use of five or more types drugs in a therapy simultaneously. The polypharmacy increases potential for drug-drug interactions. In COVID-19 therapy, varied antiviral and non-antiviral medications allow increased drug Objective: To determine relationship between interactions therapy. Method: This an analytical observational study with retrospective data retrieval using secondary sources. sampling technique used purposive total 91 samples. Tracing was reviewed through Micromedex 2.0 application results obtained were analysed Spearman correlation analysis test. Result: from non-polypharmacy events 3.20% 96.80%. at Contraindicated category (3.78%), Major Category (66.19%), Moderate (27.87%) Minor (2.16%). test showed very strong positive characterised by p-value 0.0001 coefficient 0.874. Conclusion: higher increase polypharmacy, Handling that occur can be given giving pause time use, dose adjustment, turnover.
